Predator Breeding and Conservation Ethics

Predator breeding remains one of the most complex aspects of wildlife ranching in South Africa. At Klein Buisfontein Ranch Colin and Marisa Engelbrecht are clear about their approach: "Our priority is preserving genetics responsibly for the future." Predator breeding is part of a longer-term vision, anchored in genetics, management ethics and the possibility that one day, under the right conditions, these lineages may support carefully planned rewilding projects.
