In 2026, Klein Buisfontein Ranch celebrates 21 years of breeding excellence in the wildlife industry.

More than two decades ago, Colin and Marisa Engelbrecht began the transformation of a marginal cattle farm into what is now Klein Buisfontein Ranch. Today, the farm encompasses diverse habitats with more than 33 tree species, 18 grass species, and 197 identified bird species.

"What began as a family retreat has become a sustainable enterprise," explains Colin.

"My passion for animals and wild spaces drove us to create a haven that could endure for future generations."

 

Colin and Marisa's eldest son, Darren, who has training in nature management, now oversees the daily operations. On weekends he is assisted by his brother Kyle.
